Dee Schlautman is our featured Ovation Club member. Dee is one of the first people to join the Ovation Club. She was attracted to the fact that our community is going to be brand new and part of the Heartwood Preserve development. Dee’s father was a builder and they always had a new house.
Dee’s nearest relative is her brother Scott who lives in Lincoln. She also has another brother in Mesa, Arizona and a sister in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dee’s late husband was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 37 and died at 42 years of age. He has now been gone 26 years.
Dee’s career spanned 38 years and her focus was engineering and architecture firms working in public relations, advertising, event planning and marketing support. Dee recalled that one of her most memorable experiences was writing a story after she interviewed the “real” mother of Earl Hamner, the creator of “The Waltons.” The story was published in the Omaha World Herald.
Dee is most excited about her move to Ovation where someone will cook for her and there will be a maintenance staff to take care of everything and, of course, the opportunity to meet new friends.
